Library of Souls- Ransom Riggs

The end has come and I want to read the whole thing again. The happy end that I was waiting for left my mind inventing the rest of the assumably happy lives of Jacob Portman and Emma Bloom. The style of this book was about the same as the others with mystery after mystery unfolding. Betrayal, discovery and heartbreak are throughout the book and shocking twists make the plot impossible to guess. It is a grand final story of the peculiar children but if you want to read this, first read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and Hollow City because they play a remarkable role in the build up of the story. (Also, this summary may contain spoilers for those who haven't read the first two books and wish not to know the beginning of Library of Souls)

The story begins with Jacob as everything changes with a sound. Jacob goes from the most useless peculiar to the most important and needed peculiar. He is trusted with the lives of his friends when they are captured. But in order to find them and rescue them, they need someone to trust, but who?  Jacob's peculiarity is needed not only to save his friends but the whole of peculiardom from being stolen into the wrong hands. He is the only one left who can do what he can do, he is hunted by the wights just as his grandfather was. But when the storm is over and freedom is being restored to the peculiar world Jacob has to make the desicion that has been looming over him ever since he entered the second world of peculiars. Which family would he chose?

I couldn't give much direct information on what happens in the book because there are so many exciting twists that I don't want to spoil. Also, a lot of things that I mentioned were references probably only understandable by those who have finish the book. One thing I am certain of is the fact that I am about to go back and read the whole series again because it is just SO GOOD. If you enjoy reading anything from fantasy to dystopian to mystery, you will enjoy this series. It is very worthwhile to read.

But seriously, with Library of Souls, it has everything. Action, romance, mystery, fantasy all mushed into one book that has you hooked on from the beginning and well after the end. The romance is underlying but faint and not the centre of the story. It all seemed appropriate for around twelve year olds and above with some violent scenes featuring guns and monsters that kill people, but most teens would enjoy the mix of all these things but even adults of all ages would enjoy this.

So as you can tell, overall I adored Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children series and I am addicted! If this book sounds like its for you, I suggest that you check out Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children first (copy this link for my review: https://thepenandinkpot.blogspot.com/2016/09/miss-peregrine-home-for-peculiar.html ) which is the first book in the series, and then Hollow City (copy this link for my review of Hollow City   https://thepenandinkpot.blogspot.com/2017/08/hollow-city.html ) which is the second book in the trilogy before the grand finish of Library of Souls.
Thank you for reading this review!
