Liptember

This year I am participating in a challenge called Liptember. Liptember is a fundraiser and campaign raising awareness for women's mental health. To participate, you must wear lipstick in bright colours for every day of September. There are particular lipsticks you can buy for Liptember that are bright and colourful. You can purchase them from stores such as My Beauty Spot (in store) and all of the money goes towards Lifeline, a phone line for mental health. On the Liptember website (https://www.liptember.com.au) you can register and donate to the cause. You can register by yourself or get together with a few friends and go into it together and register as a team. If you register, you can raise money for mental health and Liptember and see who is at the top of the leaderboard by the end of September. Also, you don't have to register (like I am) and just wear the lipsticks for raising awareness instead.

Although, raising awareness for lifeline and women's mental health is very important, often we just do these things, all in good reason, but it is important to understand the importance behind it. Mental health is being mentally healthy not only meaning the absence of mental illness, but it is a state of wellbeing both socially and emotionally. It also means that no mental barrier is stopping one from normal day to day activity, the normal stress of life and achieving full potential. Mental illnesses can be life threatening, and Lifeline supports those who suffer from mental illnesses such as anxiety, depression, isolation, abuse, grief and loss along with information to help a friend or family member who is suffering mentally. Through the Lifeline website (https://m.lifeline.org.au) there are many ways to find support along with important information about mental health and helplines. Liptember supports Lifeline, helping them save lives.

So thank you for reading this quick blog post and I hope that you, along with me, will help support this great cause. Hope to see you around wearing your colourful lipsticks!
