The Sun and Her Flowers- Rupi Kaur

I am quite confused about what to write in this review. As much as I enjoy poetry, I just don’t think that Rupi Kaur’s style of poetry is the sort that I love. I admire how much she breaks the boundaries that poems have been trapped inside and the brave topics she covers, overall it was a very unique book to read. I hate to be picky, but I do prefer a poem that rhymes and Rupi Kaur’s don’t and they seem to delve into lots of different topics and it can be hard to track what they are meaning.  I really enjoyed the pictures on most pages which are very simple yet they reflect the words within the poems. This was the first actual book of poetry that I have read and it has made me want to read other poetry books to discover how other writers interpret the idea of a ‘poem’. I think that there is a quite specific audience that would love this type of book and I applaud Rupi Kaur for shamelessly expressing herself for others to enjoy.
