More Bookshops in Melbourne CBD

I recently took another excursion into the CBD and went on a hunt for any bookshops which I had not yet discovered. I found many and now I will share with you those which I visited and a brief description of what to expect if you were to visit them yourself.

The Little Library
Amongst the fancy shops inside Melbourne Central Station can be found a little nook for bookworms like you and me. A bookshelf filled with a variety of novels is there for anyone to bring in one of their old books and swap it for something different.
Super cute with little benches perfect to sit and have a read if you happen to be there waiting for a train.

Kay Craddock Antiquarian Bookshop
If you are into old books, then this one is for you. Several rooms are lined with antique books of all shapes, sizes, types and ages. Even if you are not a collector of old books, it is fascinating to browse the extensive selection of books on topics ranging from Norwegian dancing to nose surgery.

The State Library
My favourite bookish place in Melbourne is the State Library, across the road from Melbourne Central Station. The architecture is stunning and the number of books there is bookworm heaven. There are several areas for browsing and studying, the most famous being "The Dome" where you can climb the balconies and take in a beautiful dome roof and bookshelves lining the walls.

Metropolis Bookshop
Located on Swanston Street, up a dark staircase in the Curtin House you will find a bookshop for all of the arty bookworms. Hours can be spent browsing the shelves filled with gorgeous books on art, design, architecture, photography and crafts. The books are quite expensive to purchase, but worthwhile to browse anyway.

Embiggen Books
In the street behind the State Library is a little bookshop with books on history, science and poetry (amongst other things). The dark wooden shelves lining the walls and the beautiful art on the windows add charm, making this the perfect cosy destination for a rainy day.

Those are all of the bookshops I can recommend so far. If you want to read about more of Melbourne's best bookshops, read another of my posts here (****). Thank you for reading my blog.
