Things to do on a Rainy Day

I don't know about you but whether I'm on school holidays or I have a free weekend, nothing pains me more than wasting precious free time thinking of what to do. So here is a list of things you might want to do if you're bored by yourself on a rainy day. 


Have a bath
There is nothing more relaxing than a hot bath full of bubbles especially on a cold winter's day. Maybe try adding a bath bomb or salts or bubble bath to spice up your bath. Also remember to put on some comfy clothes to stay all warm and cosy for the rest of the day. 

Watch a Movie or Stream a TV series
Movies are also great ways to pass time and relax. Nowadays, with Netflix and Stan and all that stuff, it is so easy to get addicted to a TV series and binge for the entire day which is exactly what you should do if you have some serious time to kill!

Phone a Friend
We all have at least one friend who we haven't seen in ages, but just don't have the time to meet up. How about give them a ring and chat over the phone to pass the lonely hours!



Discover new music 
With apps like Spotify and Pandora, there is so much new music to discover and get up to date on the latest hits. This is also something you could do to make any boring chores and jobs more interesting.

Download a new app
There are so many free apps out there so get addicted on one for a while to keep you occupied. It could be a game or a photo editor or a social media platform, whatever it is, you can give it a go and tell your friends so that they can try it too. 

Learn a Language
I know that this sounds a bit ambitious to try doing in your free time, but maybe try picking up a language you learnt through school, and if you download a language learning app such as Duolingo, you'll be fluent in no time! 



Read a Book/ research books to read
Reading is great but we all have those times when we don't really feel like doing it, so the alternative is finding a book or books to read for when you do feel like reading. Goodreads is a very useful website/app that is great for discovering and tracking the books you've read. Write Something- Anything
Just grab a pen and paper and let the words come out. You could write a poem or a short story, there are also writing competitions with prizes of $1000 for winners! Check out https://www.write4fun.net/ if you are a student and are looking to earn some cash for your writing.

Watch YouTube 
I have to admit that I spend a lot of time on YouTube when I have free time, and I could easily kill an hour or so watching videos. You could also discover a new YouTuber, see what's trending or go back and rewatch your old faves, anything will do and before long, you will have had an afternoon well spent!



So those were just a few ways to fill in spare time when you're bored, stuck inside or by yourself, but there are many more for you to discover. I stocked up on books from the library to read over the holidays and one of the books I picked up was  A Monster Calls  by Patrick Ness. I must say that this dark and mysterious book wouldn't have been the type I would usually go for, but I was intrigued by the dramatic pictures that crept through the pages of the book. I am a hungry bookworm who is constantly hunting for new, delicious books to devour. Up until quite recently, I've had trouble finding the right books and good opinions on them. Since I discovered "Goodreads", an app and a website ,( https://www.goodreads.com) most of those problems have been solved.  "Goodreads" is an online site with thousands of reviews, ratings and recommendations on books. Any books can be searched and marked as "read", "to read" or "currently reading". If a book is marked as "currently reading" there is a option of entering the page number that you're on and the percentage of progress through the book will be shown. With each book comes its blurb, information on the author, a rating out of five stars based on heaps of personal ratings, and finally, many comments and reviews from other readers.  One of my favourite things about "Goodreads" is the fact that there are so many revi

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children written by Ransom Riggs was such an intriguing read and I really recommend it to lovers of horror, fantasy and YA (Young Adult Fiction). It has a creative plot and includes modified vintage photos that bring the story to life. Although some say that the pictures seem too worked in to the story, I just found them amusing. It is clear that some of these photos are what gave Ransom Riggs the sparks for the story and that's what I love about it. Also , the movie for this book is coming out on September 29 in Australia and the trailer is very intriguing. It looks interesting, though quite dark at times as the book demonstrates. I am hoping to see it and I will let you know what I think of it.    The story begins with Jacob, a boy who thinks he is living an ordinary, boring life.
